I created Zakk the Cat to share how I successfully treated my cat Zakk for feline leukemia virus (FeLV). This site brings together everything I learned after adopting him from a shelter.
While I found these treatment methods online, they were scattered across different sources. I wanted to gather them in one place to help other cats fighting this contagious and often fatal disease.
I learned how to make homemade cat food and found the right supplements to keep Zakk healthy. I’ve created a 6-part video series where you can watch me make his food from start to finish, with helpful notes to guide you through each step.

Zakk defied the odds. When he was first diagnosed, the vets didn’t expect him to survive long. But with consistent care and a healthy diet, he beat the disease.
I know an FeLV diagnosis can feel like a death sentence. My hope is that this site offers both practical help and real hope—proof that cats like Zakk can not only survive but thrive.
I understand how scary and heartbreaking this situation is, but I want Zakk’s story to inspire people to not give up on their pets.
